When Choosing a New Home, Look for Wood Shelving

February 6, 2020

Everyone has busy lives and anything that makes our lives more organized and efficient surely helps!  That’s why all Grant homes are equipped with painted wood shelving by Inspired Closets in all closets and pantries.

If you have ever lived with wire shelves, you know that the wires can look austere and simple compared to wood shelving.  Wire shelving typically is designed and installed to support less weight and, if installed improperly, can come crashing down if not correctly fastened to wall studs.

Plus, if clothes are laid directly onto wire shelves, crease lines inevitably form on the clothes due to the wires.  Small items cannot be placed on wires shelves without falling through the spaces between wires unless a flat surface material is placed over the wire shelf.  Wood shelving is smooth and solid so that you don’t have to worry about having to iron out the line marks on your clothing or losing items onto your closet floor.

Wood in the pantry provides a strong, solid surface for cans, bottles, and other containers - large and small - without the fear of spills or falls between wires.

How important is the storage system in your new home?  Be sure to check out closets and pantries in all the homes you visit during your journey to finding the perfect home for your family to make sure wood shelving is an included feature in the home.

My wife loved the Design Studio and having the ability to choose every aspect of the design - not a "design package" as in our last home.
