5 unpacking tips for an easy, breezy move-in day

Moving into a new home is an exciting, yet somewhat stressful milestone in a person’s life. However, there are certain tips and tricks you can use to combat your moving stress! Below, we offer a few unpacking tips that will ease your transition into your new home. 

Keep cleaning supplies handy 

Whether you’re moving into a brand new home or one that has been previously lived in, it’s always important to deep clean before moving in, making sure your space is sanitized, spotless and ready for a fresh start. Think of it like this - it will be the only time you’re able to clean without having to move things around, so take advantage! 

Make an “open first” box

Box your essentials in one place to help get through the first few days of the moving process. Remember to pack important things that you might carry with you in an overnight bag, such as a toothbrush, soap, a change of clothes, toilet paper, medication etc. 

Create a game plan

Develop a plan to unpack rooms by order of importance. To keep things from getting hectic, focus on one room at a time until every space is complete.  

Organization is key 

Get out your label maker - it’ll come in handy! This way, you can easily distribute boxes into the appropriate spaces when you arrive in your new home. 

Entertainment last 

Avoid setting up things that will distract you from getting down to business. Setting up your television and game console during your move can cause unnecessary distraction. For entertainment while you unpack and organize, we suggest building a playlist of your favorite songs that inspire you to get things done.
