3 Steps to Getting the Most of your Model Home Tour

July 19, 2019

Close your eyes and think about what you want in your new house. What do you see? A comfy place to reconnect with your family?  A modern kitchen with all new appliances?  A relaxing master bathroom?

You want to make sure your dream becomes a reality.  That’s why it is so important to use your model home tours as a valuable tool in finding your perfect home. Not only will it increase the excitement of the entire process, it can become a strategic fact-finding expedition.

Decide what you want

Before you visit Grant model homes, please consider thinking about what you want and need from your home. It sounds somewhat obvious, but wandering into a home tour without a firm grasp of your needs can muddle or, even worse, derail your home buying journey.  The Grant sales professional is always ready to help make the process easier for you, but knowing about what you want makes it much less stressful and time consuming for you.

Regardless of whether you are a first time home buyer or veteran home buyer, you should consider the things your current lifestyle requires now, keeping in mind what you will need in the future. For example, if you are looking to start a family with children, you will want to make sure your house has room to grow. If you are planning on converting your bonus room into a media room, make sure the room is large enough to accommodate your equipment.  Love to cook?  Check out all the upgrades that are available in our Design Studio for the kitchen.

Making a list of your wants and needs can help with several things. First, it provides an easy reference point where you can literally check off or add items as you see features in our homes.  Second, the list can uncover unforeseen necessities or help you compromise your wants from “Must Have Now” to “Maybe In The Future.” Either way, you are prioritizing what is important for your home.  Remember, making a list does not lock you in to certain types of home plans.  You can always – and probably will – change your mind as you see the model homes.

Once you have a list, take a moment to check out our website to review the types of floor plans we offer.  Now it is time to schedule a tour of our beautifully decorated model homes to get an idea of how you will feel living in a Grant home.

Look at every detail and take lots of notes

Take the time to look at everything you see on the exterior and interior. When you enter the living room, take notice of the way it feels. Can you see your family living here? Can you imagine enjoying holidays here? In the kitchen, do you like the granite countertops? How do you feel about the King Spa Shower in the master bathroom?  Do you like hardwood flooring or is plush carpet more your style?

Being picky is exactly what you should be because what you see in our model homes will closely resemble your new home in quality and amenities.

Ask us questions

Asking questions lets you learn more about the home and home builder than you would by taking the tour alone. Take the time to ask about the building process, warranty, and what things are upgrades or optional.  Ask us about the community, schools, utilities and city services.  Feel free to ask anything – there are no crazy questions!

Always ask Kristy

When you get ready to plan your visits to our model homes, give our Online Sales Counselor, Kristy, a call.  She can help guide you to the appropriate communities that are just right for you and your family.  Kristy is the smiling face you see on our website and she can be reached at 901-713-1070 or kbartholomew@grantnewhomes.com

This is my second home here at Crossroads and with Grant. A good experience both times.
