Designing a new home plan to add to the Grant portfolio of home designs can be a daunting task.  From the time the Grant management team decides that we need to add a new home design until the day the new plan is offered for sale can take months.

It all starts with meetings with our architects where they gather information about what our home buyers tell us they want in a new home and where we discover the newest trends in home designs. The designers take the “wish list” from sales, construction and production and prepare preliminary elevations and floorplans for our group to review and approve.  This exchange may go back and forth several times before a floorplan is approved.  We strive for an efficient plan – efficiency not only in price but also in the design of the home. We incorporate ideas and suggestions from our customer surveys in developing new plans as well as taking into consideration changing design styles and innovations. 

Once a plan has been approved to build, there is one more inspection of the plan before it is finalized.  Representatives of the sales, construction, and production departments tour the home at the frame stage to make sure that the house plans produce a home that matches the company’s expectations.  This group will spend a couple of hours going through each framed room to make last minute tweets and improvements.  Plans on paper do not always turn out looking as expected.This is an opportune time to move doors, make closets larger, add windows or perfect the front elevation.
