The walls have come tumbling down!2012-12-31 Oxford Lower Level

New homes now feature comfortable open living spaces that serve several functions to meet the needs of today’s busy family.   Well placed furniture, built-ins, and multiple entry points are easy ways to designate activity zones in combination rooms like kitchen/hearth, dining/kitchen, and living/dining rooms.

This open concept makes the space feel more spacious and inviting and family members can do their own thing while keeping connected to each other.   An example of an open plan design is Grant’s “Oxford” home design pictured above.  Click on the picture to get a good look at this home plan that incorporates the entry hall, living room, formal dining room, kitchen, and breakfast room all into a wonderfully open and inviting home.  The Oxford is just one of the home plan designed exclusively for Grant & Company that embraces the open floor plan concept.   The Oxford is the beautifully decorated model home at Gwin Farms in Olive Branch, MS.  Besides in Gwin Farms, the Oxford is offered in Trinity Park and Forest Hill in Olive Branch, and in Gailyn Manor and Rockyford in Bartlett, TN

New vs Used: Easy Choice

Why Buy a New Home Instead of One That’s Pre-Owned?

Many homebuyers wrestle with the decision of whether to buy a new home or one that’s pre-owned. Years ago this decision was even more difficult to make because the features in new and existing homes were similar. However, new building materials, building codes and requirements and construction techniques have created financial and lifestyle advantages, making the new home purchase a far superior choice. Here’s why:

Energy Efficiency

A new Grant home is more energy efficient than a home that was built even a few years ago. There have been huge advancements in building techniques, systems and materials that provide a drastic reduction in monthly energy costs from homes that were built 5 years ago – let alone 20 years ago! Even the remodeling efforts that are used to update older homes and make them more energy efficient will probably never be as effective as those that are built into a new Grant home.  Grant uses energy efficient materials from nationally known brands like Honeywell and Amana.

Fresh Architectural Designs

Some pre-owned homes just look outdated. A new Grant home is designed for today’s families and their active lifestyles. With a new home, buyers can enjoy the most current advancements in technology, appliances, floor plans, and current designs in lighting, faucets, paint choices, brick, countertops and flooring.

Lower Costs of Ownership

New homes have almost no maintenance requirements for many years after they are constructed and most issues that could come up are covered by the builder’s warranty and service agreements. Homebuyers who choose to purchase pre-owned homes do not enjoy this advantage and often these simple maintenance tasks are overwhelming. Older homes are also in constant need of painting, flooring replacement, kitchen appliance replacement, plumbing and other expensive updates. With a new Grant home, you can enjoy the benefit of all new materials.

Personalization of a New Home

Choose a new Grant home and make it your own! Unlike a pre-owned home, which might have been designed for a completely different family from yours, a new Grant home allows the buyer to choose the perfect floor plan and add options that accommodate the individual needs of their family. Customized colors, finish-work and other personal touches are just some of the options available in the Grant Design Center.

The Workmanship

You’ve probably heard the phrase: They don’t make’em like they used to. This is true. Quality homebuilders make’em BETTER than they used to! Homeowners have learned that they can enjoy the best materials, products and workmanship in a new home.  Construction methods have also advanced dramatically. The builders at Grant & Company build new homes that are both environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

Grant & Company Homes are Inspected by Code Enforcement Professionals

In addition to Grant’s own quality assurance professionals, each Grant home undergoes inspections by County/ City Code Enforcement professionals to guarantee that all Grant homes meet the latest, stringent building codes.

All of these benefits make it an easy decision to choose a new Grant home!

The “Cottage Collection” is a collection of home designs that are just a bit smaller than the typical home built by Grant & Company and they are built on smaller home sites for those who prefer less lawn maintenance.   “Cottage Collection” homes are built with the same great care, quality materials and expertise as all other Grant-built homes.

These new homes are currently available in Kensington Estates in Arlington and Maplebrook in Olive Branch.

The first of the new designs to be released is the CANTERBURY.  With approximately 2,150 square feet of heated space, this home features three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the lower level and a playroom and an optional third bathroom upstairs.  It also has a covered porch on the front and the rear of the home; kitchen with breakfast bar overlooking the breakfast room and a nice sized family room with a gas fireplace.  The owner’s suite features a salon bath with whirlpool tub, split vanities and two walk-in closets.  Grant’s exclusive King Spa Shower is an option in all of the new home designs.

Grant & Co. Homes Feature Rivertree Hardwood Floors

Categories: New Option & Upgrades | Posted: March 19, 2012

All Grant & Company new homes are built with quality products using superior craftsmen – including the hardwood flooring installed by Rivertree Hardwood.
Unlike products used in older homes, today’s hardwood is environmentally friendly. “Hardwood today comes from managed forests planted specifically for the purpose of harvesting the wood,” said Steve Cooksey, owner of Rivertree Hardwood in Memphis. “Wood for flooring is just like other crops – with a longer growing season. Because of modern forest management, there are more trees in the US today than there were 50 years ago.”
For the allergy-prone, hardwood flooring is a good choice since it won’t trap dust and allergens. Hardwood is also easy to maintain. Rivertree Hardwood recommends cleaning hardwood by placing a cup of vinegar in a gallon of water. Place the mixture in a spray bottle and lightly spritz a mop before each cleaning.
Hardwood flooring is beautiful and smart. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, hardwood may seem more expensive, but in fact, hardwood flooring generally last almost 30 years, while carpet lasts less than half that amount of time. Many modern hardwood floors are coated at the factory with special finishes that create one of the hardest, longest lasting finishes that can be applied to floors.
Grant & Company offers many different Rivertree hardwood floors in our Design Center. From narrow plank to wide plank, from light, natural looking finishes to the warm, rich look of hickory – Grant has a floor to suit your lifestyle. Hardwood flooring is available in all Grant neighborhoods throughout the Mid-South.

2012 Brings Exciting New Options

Sneak Peek at the New King Spa Shower

All of us who like the idea of standing in a nice, warm summer rain will love the Grant’s new King Spa Shower option which features Moen’s “Immersion InvigoRain™ Rainshower” showerhead.
The rainfall showerhead featured in this new option is constructed with Moen’s trademark “immersion/invigo” technology. Water is channeled through a spoke design on the showerhead which concentrates and magnifies the natural force of the water to dramatically enhance your shower experience. Step into the shower and wash cares away with a rain shower showerhead that provides enough pressure to deliver an invigorating, full body shower.
Most rain shower showerheads are gravity-fed so the water collects in the showerhead and slowly trickles out, creating a low-pressure drooping effect. InvigoRain is self-pressurizing. It channels the water out of the showerhead for maximum water force and coverage – for a more sought-after shower experience.
The King Spa Shower custom option includes not only this unique rainfall shower head, but also an additional Moen shower head, bench seating, and either glass block (cool!!) or frameless glass and tile walls. Each spacious shower is designed according to the home plan and incorporated into the design of the master bathroom for maximum use of space – not arbitrarily stuck out into the middle of the bathroom, which often creates a carwash-looking shower. The new design allows homeowners to have the luxury of a larger, more glamorous shower with a relaxing shower experience and still maintain the warmth and water efficiency they need.
While our new King Spa Shower option ensures a relaxing, home-spa experience, Grant is intent on providing energy efficient features in all our homes. Grant uses only Moen WaterSense™ faucets – all of which are certified by the EPA to meet water efficiency standards.
